The appeal is understandable. Industrial energy costs are rising, imported fossil fuels carry foreign-exchange pressure, and
sustainability commitments are becoming a market expectation rather than a bonus. Alternative fuels made from waste
streams also align with circular-economy thinking — turning a disposal problem into an energy resource.
For energy-intensive industries running boilers and thermal processes, an alternative fuel that promises lower cost and a
smaller environmental footprint is naturally attractive.
The opportunity is real. But opportunity and readiness are two different things.
